Weight Watchers SmartPoints Spaghetti Recipe

  • 24 oz. Jar Tomato Onion & Garlic Pasta Sauce
  • 13¼ oz. Whole Grain Thin Spaghetti
  • 19¼ oz. 99% Lean Ground Turkey (this is the size of most pre-packaged ground turkey options from Jenni-O and other brands in store)
  • 8 oz. Red Wine (I use Merlot or inexpensive cooking wine)
  • ½ cup Carrots, diced
  • ½ cup Celery, diced
  • 1 Medium Onion, diced
  • ½ Medium Tomato, diced
  • 1 Tablespoon Italian Seasoning
  • 2 Teaspoons Onion Powder
  • 2 Teaspoons Garlic Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
  1. Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain, and set aside.
  2. In a large stockpot, heat olive oil and cook onion, carrot, and celery for 5-7 minutes over medium heat. As they begin to get tender, add in tomatoes and red wine then cook for additional 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in ground turkey, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and onion powder. Cook on medium heat for 6-7 minutes stirring occasionally until ground meat is cooked through and no longer pink.
  4. Pour in pasta sauce and red wine. Stir mixture until well combined.
  5. Simmer over medium heat for 10-15 minutes to allow flavors to develop.
  6. Serve over pasta or mix together with pasta and serve.
