Mashed Sweet Potatoes
One of the most popular comfort foods around during the holiday season has to be the classic sweet potato casserole but the rich buttery and sugar-laden mixture can be a killer on a diet.  Here are our favorite Weight Watchers Mashed Sweet Potatoes that are only 2 Points on Weight Watchers per serving.  These are satisfying, creamy and perfect as a substitute for your traditional sweet potato dish that is full of sugar and fat during the holidays.  With their natural sweetness and the addition of yogurt for creaminess, you won’t miss the traditional has.

Weight Watchers Mashed Sweet Potatoes

This is a great spin on a classic dish.  I love the idea of making these a more savory dish to serve alongside our favorite meals.  Instead of the traditional sweet option, the Weight Watchers mashed sweet potatoes make a great savory option.  They can replace other starches and have great amounts of beta-carotene to add to your diet.

Ingredients for Weight Watchers Mashed Sweet Potatoes

2 cups cubed sweet potatoes (approximately 1")
½ Cup Plain Fat-Free Greek Yogurt
1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
½ Teaspoon Salt
½ Teaspoon Cracked Black Pepper
Directions for Weight Watchers Mashed Sweet Potatoes

Place sweet potatoes in large saucepan and cover with water.

Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and cook for 8-10 minutes or until fork tender.

Remove from heat and drain
Pour into large bowl, add in yogurt and seasonings and mash until smooth.
We recommend using a hand mixer for the smoothest potato mixture.

Play with the seasonings you prefer.  If you like something sweeter add a hint of cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg or even pumpkin pie spice for a sweet dish.  If you prefer savory add onion powder, paprika or even chili powder for a bit more kick.  Sweet potatoes are much like their traditional counterpart and are exceptionally versatile in flavor profiles with the right additions.
Make our Weight Watchers mashed sweet potatoes to add a delicious savory side that is low in points and delicious!

Yes, nonfat plain Greek or nonfat plain regular yogurt are both zero points so would remain the same.
