My mom always made this for us, and even though I have never cared for cottage cheese, I found it the perfect addition in this sweet treat. Using sugar-free fat-free pudding mix makes it lower in points without sacrificing the flavor. You can add different fruits if you want, but make sure that you choose the canned fruit that is in juice or water and has been drained.
Ingredients for Pistachio Fluff Recipe
1 20 ounces can crushed pineapple in juice, drained
1 20 ounces can mandarin oranges in juice, drained
2 cups low-fat cottage cheese (1%)
1 8 ounces tub fat-free whipped topping
1 fat-free sugar-free pistachio pudding mix
Directions for Pistachio Fluff Recipe
In a large mixing bowl, mix together the drained pineapple, drained mandarin oranges, and cottage cheese.
Fold in whipped topping and pudding mix until well combined. Be careful as light whipped topping can separate so don’t beat, simply fold.

Everyone needs a go-to dessert or treat. That’s why this is one of those easy recipes that I love making. It’s a perfect low point treat that fits into my daily meal plan and is so satisfying. The protein in the cottage cheese also adds a lot of extra satiation, so it’s a great option to have as a snack between meals or dessert after dinner! Just curious how you got 3 points (freestyle). No matter how I figure it it’s at least 5 per 1 cup serving
Cottage cheese 7
Lite Coolwhip 27
pudding 4
the WW app recipe calculator says 5 per cup.
Katie says
Your calculation for Lite Cool Whip is incorrect for the 8-ounce size listed.
An 8-ounce container of Light Whipped Topping contains approximately 25 servings at 2 tablespoons each.
50 tablespoons Light Whipped Topping is equal to 14 SmartPoints on FreeStyle.
Thus the recipe results in a 3 SmartPoint calculation per serving.
2 cups 1% Cottage Cheese – 7 points
Sugar Free Pudding Mix – 4 points
8 ounces Light Whipped Topping – 14 points
25 points divided by 8 portions is rounded to 3 SmartPoints per serving

What about the points in the caned fruit even sugar free has points. Just making sure on this . I Love it and have used 4 different flavor sugar free puddings and they were all yum yum yum! I have only a 1/2 cp for 3 points if I can have WHOLE Cup, I have surely died and went to heaven 🙂
Katie says
The recipe accounts for the points for canned fruit that has been drained properly.
Martha says
WOW! I don’t come up with 3 points either. What brand of whipped topping did you use? None of the lite cool whip entries in the database are 14 smartpoints, at least none that I can find.
Katie says
50 tablespoons of Fat-Free Whipped Topping is 14 SmartPoints in the app and using my local store brand.
Lesley says
You have light listed in the ingredients list, and fat free is less points. I got the light thinking that’s what was needed and it is higher in points than the fat free on the ww app.
Katie says
It varies by brand. The local store brand light is lower than brand Fat-Free. Always check the brand you are using in the recipe builder.
