Gingerbread Homemade Body Scrub

This Gingerbread Homemade Body Scrub is a great choice for fall or winter. It is the perfect time for delicious holiday scents like pumpkin, apple, and of course our favorite gingerbread! Oh, the spicy, wonderful scent of Gingerbread warms up your mood in even the chilliest of temps. Whether you love the flavor of the cookie version or not you will probably flip for the delicious scent of this Gingerbread Body Scrub.

This is a perfect way to soothe, moisturize, and soften dry skin due to colder temps and wind, a wonderful spiced aromatic experience, and has ingredients that improve your skin’s appearance long term. First it works to slough away dead skin, then the oils that are left behind absorb and heal your skin like a fancy spa treatment without the cost or the need to even leave your home!

Gingerbread Homemade Body Scrub

Ingredients:

1 cup brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup coconut oil
2 tsp. ground ginger
2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground clove
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. vitamin E oil

Directions:

Stir all ingredients in a large bowl until everything is well combined and evenly distributed.

Transfer to a jar with a tight fitting lid.

The vitamin E works as a natural preservative so your sugar scrub should last for at least 6-8 weeks if refrigerated between uses, if you decide to give it as a gift be sure to let them know it does have a shelf life.

To Use: Rub a generous scoop gently onto wet skin in a circular motion. Rinse away with water and pat skin dry with a towel.

Use caution- your shower floor may be slippery from the oils, rinse an extra few minutes to help melt and run coconut oil down the drain.

This gingerbread homemade body scrub is a perfect choice for gift giving. Grab some simple plastic jars, ribbon and make your own label to create a gorgeous easy gift everyone will love. Remember you are using ingredients that could potentially spoil, so make in small batches and use within 1-2 weeks if kept out in the open, or within 6-8 weeks if refrigerated between uses.

I also recommend being careful and using plastic versus glass jars for storage. A plastic jar won’t break if dropped or knocked over in the bathroom. Just to be on the safe side, make sure you use plastic. We found tons of different colors, sizes an styles at the Dollar Tree in our area. You may even find them online.

Sore Muscle Body Scrub

Sometimes a long soak in a hot tub is just what your aching, sore, tired muscles need. But other days you just may not have the time or the getting out will be harder than the benefit of getting in- but you still need some relief. I was having one of these times the other day, wanting to enjoy the benefits of my favorite essential oils for relieving a sore body but no time for a long bath. So I quickly whipped up a batch of my favorite Sore Muscle Body Scrub homemade body treatments- a sugar scrub, and added some relief giving oils to create one of my new favorite treatments- Sore Muscle Rub. While the sugar and coconut oil leaves your skin soft and richly moisturized the essential oils absorb into your skin easing the aches and pains of day to day life, flu symptoms ( they also have the benefit of opening up your sinuses for this),

SORE MUSCLE BODY SCRUB

Ingredients:

1 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup unscented, Mild Castile Soap

1/4 cup Coconut Oil

8-10 drops Peppermint Essential Oil

8-10 drops Frankincense Essential Oil

10 drops Lavender Essential Oil

8-10 drops Wintergreen Essential Oil

If you have all these oils on hand, great, if not just use the ones you have. I also usually incorporate some doTerra Deep Blue Rub into it (which includes peppermint and wintergreen) for a stronger mixture as well.

Combine all ingredients in a bowl stirring well to incorporate everything evenly.

Store in a jar with an airtight lid next to or in your shower.

To use: Rub over sore areas-avoid face and other “sensitive” areas, allow to stay on for 2-3 minutes for oils to absorb then rinse away, pat dry.

This sore muscle body scrub is a great way give yourself both a break from the pain, but also a fun spa treatment. Pumpkin Spice Body Scrub

Ingredients:

1 cup Brown sugar

1/2 cup Coconut oil

1 Tbsp. Pumpkin Pie Spice

2 tsp. Cinnamon

1 tsp. Vanilla extract

1 vitamin E capsule

Directions:

In a medium sized bowl mix all ingredients until fully combined, adjust the texture to your liking by adding more or less coconut oil.

After it sits a while the oil will break down the sugar some and will be a wetter consistency so make it slightly dryer than you think you want.

Scoop body scrub into a container with a lid to store. The addition of the vitamin E capsule, besides adding the benefit to your skin, is that it extends the shelf life of your ingredients- Store up to 10 weeks.

I usually make my homemade sugar scrub recipes in small batches since I don’t use them every day. However, they are gentle enough for your skin to use daily if you wish. While some use basic vegetable oil, I much prefer coconut oil in my homemade sugar scrub recipes. It always leaves my skin feeling soft and I love that added coconut scent!

Peppermint Sugar Scrub With Coffee

This Peppermint Sugar Scrub with Coffee is a favorite of mine during the holiday season! Peppermint is one of the most identifiable of all holiday scents. We put it in our coffee drinks, chocolate bark, cocoa, and spray it in our homes to capture the scent. It is a wonderful option for homemade body products, especially in the shower, as it is invigorating and wakes you up.

Add coffee and you have a homemade sugar scrub that not only perks up your mind but softens, moisturizes, and smooths your skin. It’s a great for exfoliation, and smells amazing in the process. What more cold you ask for?

Peppermint Sugar Scrub with Coffee

Dry winter skin is no fun, but with the addition of coconut oil in this wonderful homemade sugar scrub recipe you won’t be worried about that any more! Make a generous sized jar and then double or triple the recipe to gift to friends and family who will adore you for such a sweet gift.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup coffee, fresh

2-3 T. coconut oil

12-15 drops peppermint essential oil

I am not picky about brands of essential oils, but do prefer ones that state they are therapeutic grade. They tend to be higher quality with better scent. This means you use less oil in the mix than you would with other brands and types.

Directions:

Combine sugar, coffee, and 2 Tablespoons of coconut oil until well mixed.

Add peppermint to suit your scent strength, add more oil if desired. I tend to like mine a little drier so it is a stronger exfoliant.

Transfer to an airtight container like a mason jar. To gift wrap in ribbon or twine and add a pretty handmade ribbon.

Since this peppermint sugar scrub does include coffee, you’ll want to make sure that you make it right before you gift it, and let your friends or family know they should use it within 1-2 weeks. Once coffee grounds get wet, they can mold pretty fast, so putting this in the refrigerator between uses is also a good idea to keep it fresh longer. For a bit of extra scent, you can grab some flavored or gourmet coffee grounds instead of your basic coffee.
